Artist Gives Modern Music Album Covers a Retro Makeover

There is no way we can know what popular music stars like Bad Bunny or Billie Eilish would sound like if they were making music in the  1980s. But thanks to Colombian artist Fulvio Alejandro Obregon, we at least know what their album covers would look like.

Obregon, who goes by the moniker Fulaleo on social media, has an intriguing series of illustrations titled “2080s, The Past is the Future.” As part of the series, this Melbourne, Australia, based artist gives modern music album covers a retro makeover and imagines how they would look like if they were published in the ‘80s.

For example, Fulaleo gives Bad Bunny an ‘80s Miami vibe in a cover that looks like it came straight out of the GTA: Vice City video game.

On the other hand, Billie Eilish is shown as a rebellious figure that looks like she just dropped the punkiest album of the decade.

The list of music stars that received ‘80s album covers by Fulaleo includes Jay-Z, Eminem, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Gorillaz, and many more. He also opted for using fake album names, coming up with amusing titles that were inspired by the artists’ personalities.
