Crocheting experienced a huge boom in recent years, largely thanks to the creative artists who managed to put a modern twist on this old-fashioned craft. Blessing Komolafe is one of them and her brand Yarn Over is making crochet as chic as it gets.
Komolafe is a crochet artist based in Nigeria and she made quite a splash with her crocheted items since starting her own brand in 2021. With Yarn Over, she aims to bring high-quality wearable art to life, while fully embracing fast-fashion practices and making all of her products by hand, in small batches.
To make the whole thing even more impressive, Komolafe discovered crocheting only a year before starting her own brand. Her sister was the one who suggested she should give it a try while she was looking for a creative outlet during the heat of the pandemic in 2020.
“My sister casually suggested I start crocheting, believing it was something I would be good at due to my artistic/creative nature. A reluctant me decided to give it a shot and all I can say is; the moment I picked up my very first hook and yarn I knew I was in it for the long run,” Komolafe explains on her official website.
