Check Out These Cool “Industrial” Paintings By Joe Nix

Seattle-based artist Joe Nix learned to appreciate craftsmanship and mechanical engineering from a young age thanks to his father and grandfather, who were engineers by profession. When he grew up and picked art as his career path, he kept that appreciation close to his heart and used it as an inspiration for his unique artworks.

Nix creates paintings that he refers to as “based in the industrial and beyond.” They revolve around various mechanical components, but his preferred ones are complex engines that he reconstructs on canvas into new objects with meticulous attention to detail.

“These machines are not soulless,” his artist statement explains. “They are historical relics and family portraits; an ode to an industrial port city. They represent a lineage and a spirit that he is driven to hold onto in a time of microchips and plastic.”

In recent years, Nix has ventured into creating murals in his signature style. His street art can be seen in various spots in Seattle, including the building of Java Jahn Espresso and Magic Touch Mopeds.

Nix’s industrial artworks have found a great number of admirers in the art world. He has exhibited in various art galleries in Seattle and across the United States. Continue scrolling to check out more of them below.
