Check Out What Happens When You Try to Photocopy Money

Did you ever think about photocopying money? Well, don’t, because it’s illegal. And also, it won’t work, as demonstrated in a viral video shared by YouTuber Ceapa Cool.

Just like many of us, Ceapa Cool wondered what would happen if you tried to photocopy money. So one day, they decided to take a €50 bill and run it through a photocopy machine. The copy came out with a glitch, indicating that there was something interfering with the photocopy process.

For his second attempt, the YouTuber tried to photocopy a €50 bill alongside a UNO card but got the same result. Finally, they figured out that a series of dots imprinted on the bill caused a glitch, so they tried to cover them up. This allowed them to get a clear copy but without several key elements.

As it turns out, all banknotes have a security measure called EURion constellation, which consists of a pattern of symbols imprinted on the money bills. When devices like scanners or photocopiers detect the symbols, they refuse to complete the task.

Besides copy devices, most software can also detect the EURion constellation. For example, Photoshop will refuse to allow users to edit the image if they recognize the pattern.
