Describing herself as a “designer of many things”, the Russian-born, Silicon Valley-based Irina Blok likes puns—but what she loves even more is illustrating them. Like everyone else, she was also affected by the events of 2020.
However, she found two things that helped her to cope with the bad news. She began cooking and drawing cartoons a whole lot more! In the process, she brought a little bit more laughter into the world.
Besides her Covid Life project, she began working on another series where she illustrated Pretty Bad Puns. “Sometimes, when I read the news, all of a sudden, I see some words like ‘salad dressing’ and imagine that salad is actually dressing in clothes. If I have the idea, I grab the iPad and draw it really quick,” Blok shared on Bored Panda. Indeed, she admitted to finding inspiration within everything she sees.
Throughout her 15-year career, she worked with some massive companies: such as Facebook, Apple, Yahoo, and Adobe. But she is probably most recognized for her design of the Google Android logo.
