Lizzie Kaya’s Crochet Pieces Are a Quirky, Colorful Delight

With a flair for vibrant colors and quirky patterns, Lizzie Kaya is bringing joy and whimsy to the world of crochet art. The founder of the fashion brand Gimme Kaya is stitching together some of the most unusual crochet creations that you’ll ever see—and that’s exactly what makes them special.

Kaya is based in Leeds, England, and she fell in love with crocheting while she was still a teen. She always enjoyed vintage shopping and found herself drawn to crochet blankets and knitted textiles every time she hit a thrift store.

She eventually decided to buy one piece of handmade crochet clothing, but simply owning it wasn’t enough. Kaya desperately wanted to knit her own crochet pieces, so she turned to YouTube for learning lessons, becoming a self-taught fiber artist along the way.

“As soon as I got the hang of different stitches, I went straight into trying to make my own clothes. It took a lot of trial and error and failed attempts, but it’s finally something I’m really good at,” she told Vogue.

Kaya went a long way from being a teen selling crochet pieces out of her bedroom. She’s now doing this full-time, and her brand Gimme Kaya became a true Instagram sensation thanks to its vibrant, quirky pieces, ranging from dresses and tops to cardigans and hats.
