Naptime Doodler is Sharing Adorable Food Illustrations Inspired by Studio Ghibli’s Films

Studio Ghibli’s films serves as a source of inspiration for many illustrators over the years, including Debby Tam. The mastermind behind the Instagram page Naptime Doodler is sharing adorable food illustrations that pay homage to some of Hayao Miyazaki’s most iconic characters.

Tam is based in San Jose, California and she sells stickers, washi tapes, greeting cards, and other stationery based on her illustrations on her official website. Naptime Doodler has been around since 2020, but how did she come up with the idea for her brand?

“The meaning behind Naptime Doodler is simple. I’m a new mom who left the corporate world to spend more time with my baby. My son’s naptimes became my drawing times and it was a way for me to unwind, relax, and work on my passion,” Tam explained on her San Jose Made page.

Tam’s illustrations attracted over 30,000 followers to her Instagram page, and we’ve seen her explore many different subjects, but her Studio Ghibli-inspired art caught our eye. She’s on top of her game whenever she’s illustrating burgers, popsicles, macarons, and other foods inspired by My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and other Studio Ghibli films.
