Nest Embirdery is Celebrating the Beauty of the Animal World Through Embroidery Art

The endless beauty of the animal world has been intriguing artists for years—even those who use needles and thread as their canvas. Carley of Nest Embirdery is one of them and she’s using her embroidery art to capture majestic animals in their full glory.

Carley started her artistic journey as a painter, but she shifted to embroidery in late 2019. This art form helped her overcome anxiety and rediscover her creativity, allowing her to develop the ability to create unique visuals using textures and colors through different stitching techniques.

The subjects Carley chose to explore in her work were largely informed by her love for nature. She describes herself as a person who spends her days “hanging out with her cats, re-watching Friends for the 284th time, or over-watering her plants” so it goes without saying she’s a huge animal and nature lover.

Her work often blends her love for flora and fauna together, and she enjoys stitching tiny floral patterns until they take shape of different animals, from cows and horses to bears and squirrels. Among all the animals out there, birds are definitely her favorites, and she even named her brand after them.

“Carley is an Edmonton native who has been obsessing over birds and art for the better part of her life… She firmly believes that birds are the perfect subject of embroidery and dares you to prove her wrong,” she writes on her official website.
