Raising a pig as a pet may sound like an unconventional idea, but there are dozens of Instagram pages that show what an amazing adventure it is. One of these accounts belongs to Prissy and Pop, an adorable piglet duo with almost 700,000 followers.
Prissy and Pop were adopted by Melissa Nicholson, a schoolteacher from Florida. She discovered her affection for pigs while paying a visit to a pig farm during her time at The University of Alabama, and it was just the beginning of an amazing love story.
Several years down the road she adopted Priscilla, Prissy for short. Since she didn’t want her to be too lonely, Poppleton aka Pop joined her a few months later. Nicholson went on to adopt several more piglets, including Posey, Pink, and Penn, and they went on to become one of Pigstagram’s most adorable families.
Back in 2016, Nicholson moved to a farm with her beloved pets, and she’s now taking care of many other rescue animals, including horses, cats, and even more pigs. Prissy and Pop aren’t only a huge hit with pig lovers on Instagram, but also with Nicholson’s students. She enjoys incorporating them into her school lessons from time to time and teaching kids about kindness and compassion this way.
