Simon Beck Creates Large-Scale Snow Artworks y Walking

Most of us have created a snow artwork at one point. It can begin with a single footprint in the fresh snow and develop into a geometrical shape or a simple drawing. British artist Simon Beck makes his snow art in the same way but on a much bigger scale.

Beck is considered one of the world’s most famous snow artists. He creates large-scale snow artworks depicting complex patterns and designs, with his only tool being his snowshoes.

Beck, who had a career as a cartographer, initially created his first snow artwork as a joke. However, he liked the experience, and after doing some research, he found out that there is no artist who is doing it in the same way he is. This prompted him to quit his job in 2009 and focus solely on his art.

Since then, Beck has created more than 30 artworks each winter, with the majority of them being located in the Alps. He can spend more than 10 hours just walking, and cover 30 miles before a piece is completed. But, for him, it is all worth it.

“I mean I am now the snow artist. That’s what I do,” Beck shared in an interview with ABC News. “It’s the best opportunity I’ve had, yeah it’s what I’ll be remembered for, not the earlier failings in life.”
