Stephan Brusche is Using Banana Peels as a Canvas for His Funny Doodles

We’ve all been told not to play with our food as kids, but it doesn’t seem like Stephan Brusche has learned his lesson. This artist specializes in transforming bananas into amazing works of art with his funny doodles and intricate peel carvings.

Brusche is based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and his creative journey of drawing on bananas started as a happy accident. One day at work, he just felt like posting something on Instagram and settled on a photo of a banana with a happy face drawn on it. He was impressed by how easy it was to draw on a banana peel, so he kept on doing it.

“After that, I tried to come up with new ideas for drawings while using the shape of the banana in all kinds of clever ways. Trying to keep pushing creative ideas further I eventually started to carve in the banana peel, as well,” he told Bored Panda.

Brusche’s inspiration comes from the most unusual places, and no topic is off-limits when he’s creating his funny doodles. He’s mostly inspired by the animal world, art, and popular culture, but we’ve also seen him create a series of so-called “Bible Bananas”.

His Instagram page @isteef attracted over 100,000 followers since he embarked on this journey, and we’ve seen him draw on everything from pears to kiwis over the years.
