Steward Spends the Flight Sitting on a Floor to Comfort Distressed Passenger

A lot of people have a fear of flying or feel uneasy when having to travel by plane. Luckily, flight attendants usually have a great understanding of this and are willing to help in any way they can to make the passengers feel more comfortable.

A woman named Molly Simonson Lee recently shared a heartwarming story on her Facebook that shows how far flight attendants are willing to go to provide passengers with the best possible experience. According to Lee, she was on a Delta flight from Charlotte to New York City and was sitting behind a visibly distressed woman.

Delta steward Floyd Dean-Shannon noticed the woman’s distress, so he decided to try and calm her down. He even started explaining the origins of the sounds the plane was making, as they apparently made the woman particularly concerned.

While doing her best to stay calm, the experience was too overwhelming for the woman, and at one point, she started to cry. At that point, Dean-Shannon decided to approach the woman again and sit on the floor beside her. He proceeded to comfort her until they arrived at their destination.

Upworthy later reached out to Molly Simonson Lee, who revealed that this wasn’t the only act of kindness from Dean-Shannon on the same flight. The good-hearted steward also sang a “Happy Birthday” to a woman who was celebrating her birthday and even made her a “cake” out of candies.

“It was obvious he is just a good, kind soul who shares that generously with everyone he encounters. Such kindness is rare and a true gift when encountered,” Lee told Upworthy.

It is completely natural to be scared of flying. But know that your flight attendants are there for you to help you fight the fear and eventually beat it.
