]]>When we first saw some photos of Tanaka’s works, we immediately heard our stomachs growling. There were hamburgers, croissants, cakes, salads, and all sorts of other food, looking for someone to sink their teeth in it. But if that had happened, they would probably end up having to book a dentist’s appointment. You see, all of Tanaka’s food is actually “cooked” using clay.
Tanaka, who creates under his brand Nunu’s House, has been involved in the world of miniatures for more than two decades. He creates all sorts of realistic figurines that look like faithful replications of real-life objects. This includes cookware, watches, jewelry, and everything else you can imagine.
His most recognizable works, however, are miniature foods we mentioned earlier. Despite making them on 1-12 or 1-24 scale, Tanaka manages to get even the slightest details right. His impressive ability and the appetizing effect of his works got him huge popularity on social media, especially on Instagram, where he has close to 250K followers.

]]>Corinne got into food art during the pandemic, wanting to surprise her kids with new and fun creations. It soon became a passion for her and is now a hobby that she wholesomely enjoys. Her Instagram page, where she showcases her newest food creations, has more than 20K followers, and the number is continuously growing.
The recurring theme in Corinne’s food creations are monsters, aliens, and other playful characters. They sometimes look weird or scary, but they are always delicious. This approach also allows her to get her kids interested in the food they usually are not too happy to eat.
“I feel inspired to make food art because it makes my kids laugh and try foods they wouldn’t normally be interested in,” she shared in a recent interview with Bored Panda.
Corinne’s goal is to continue amusing her family and social media followers with creative food art, and she hopes to have enough of them at one point to make a children’s book. Until then, check out more of her food characters below.

]]>Harley Langberg is a New York City-based food artist who found his passion in recreating pop culture characters, animals, objects, and more on his plate. Using all sorts of food, ranging from veggies to bacon, Langberg so far constructed realistic depictions of Mufasa from Lion King, Winifred Sanderson from Hocus Pocus, Jason from Friday the 13th, and Chuckie from Rugrats, to name a few.
“The ingredients used in his pieces are carefully selected, spanning both the food pyramid and the globe,” the bio on his website states.
Langberg has been involved in food art for the past nine years. It all started when he was out shopping for groceries at a local market and noticed a food art photo. He was captivated by it and decided to try creating some himself the same night. And he never stopped.
Since making his first food art piece, Langberg perfected his technique, gained a significant social media following, and worked on projects for various companies. The list of his former clients is impressive and includes the likes of Chili’s, Food Network, Billboard, and Kroger.

“In 2018, I decided to start posting some of my bakes to Instagram. I simply wanted to create a baking journal for myself and the people closest to me. And I did! He sometimes spends hours combing through cookbooks for the perfect dish. Like, for example, the Potato Chip Cookies recipe from 1976. You might not think potato candy sounds good, but Hollis is about to prove you wrong.

]]>Back in 2019, one Instagram user decided to dedicate an entire page to bad-looking food and dishes from around the world. If you thought that the page didn’t last long, think again. It managed to get close to 20K followers and has a collection of 350 dishes you probably wouldn’t like to try out.
According to the page creator, they are food enthusiasts who enjoy going through food forums and Reddit pages. They would often encounter some really unappealing dishes, which is how they got the idea to create an Instagram page.
They initially posted photos from their own collection, but it didn’t take long before other users started submitting their own entries.
“For Instagram, how it looks is the most important one, obviously,” the page creator explained in a chat with Bored Panda.” A dish could be the most delicious dish you’ve ever eaten, but if it looks bad it ruins everything, in my opinion. I think most people think this way too.”

Together with head chef and co-owner, Bonita de Silva, Clarke wrote a response putting the unsatisfied customer in their place—light-heartedly, of course, and winning the heart of their customers and followers.
“We take each review as we find it, and fortunately, until porridge milk-gate, we have not had many poor reviews,” Clarke said in an interview for Bored Panda. “At best, they are an opportunity for us to take feedback and grow. At worst, they are someone in a darkened room somewhere enraged that we do things differently at Café Van Gogh and feeling the need to lash out.”

Being an international couple, Logo is Italian and Mollica American, so they have different views on preparing food. Although Sarah knows how important food is to her husband, she still likes to pretend to be naïve about things, such as how pasta is done. And Carlo’s reaction is more than hilarious! ]]>“One of my favorite mini scenes I have ever made was a bunch of Halloween treats in the kitchen,” said Growden in an interview with the Daily Mini, noting how she made ghost and pumpkin cookies, orange and black cupcakes, candied apples, and a tiny bag of candy corn. “I think scenes look best when you add as much detail and variety as possible,” she explains quite rightly (with miniatures – it’s all in the details).
According to Growden, her interest in miniatures actually stems from her love of fake food. Making complicated dishes in bite-size proportions is not only easier, says Growden, but is also a way of preserving her meals forever and ever. Talk about having the cake and eating it too…
“My earliest memory with miniatures is when I was just a kid,” Growden recalls. “I would make tiny pies and sandwiches for my American Girl dolls, using instructions from one of the American Girl craft books. The pies were made with seed beads, felt, and bottle caps. The sandwiches were made with cork board and rubber bands. I loved how the materials mimicked real food.”

Capistrano first makes a structured dough, which she fills with the flavor that matches the theme. Then she covers the cake with a secret coating, and uses acetate to give the cakes their shape. Then she ices and decorates the cakes, making her mesmerizing Tsunami Cakes.
The baker said that she doesn’t sell the cakes but only makes them for fun. However, we’re sure that she’d have many happy customers if she ever did decide to sell them.
