Dark humor isn’t for everyone. Only people who can see the funny side of inappropriate situations and don’t take everything too seriously can enjoy them. For those people, content with dark humor can be comedy gold, and Dark Dystopia comics definitely show it.

Created by artist Andres Londono, the Dark Dystopia series is full of things you might feel a bit bad to laugh about. However, that won’t stop you from doing it regardless. Whether it’s a bad man melting a snowman with a cup of coffee, pranks going bad, or people being simply reckless, you’ll know that the outcome isn’t the best but also that it wouldn’t be funny if it was.

According to Londono, the goal of his comics is to show that comedy can be found in unexpected places, even those in which most people wouldn’t dare to look.

“I really enjoy playing with ideas that would usually be considered offensive, sad, or tragic and try to give them a funny approach … I truly believe that with the right approach, anything can be turned into something funny, at least for some,” Londono told Bored Panda in a recent interview.

Everyday life situations can often look mundane. But for illustrator David Ostow, they are a source of inspiration for a funny series of single-panel comics.

In Ostow’s comics, an ordinary moment in life gets turned upside down and becomes much more intriguing with a simple twist or a short line of text. It can include anything from apartment hunting to a casual chat between friends.

According to the artist, he draws inspiration from his own life, his family, and random people he encounters.

“Some days it makes you want to cry but when you’re lucky it can lead to serious comedy. Also, having two young children, there is no shortage of jokes to be mined from the behavior and habits of these weird little lovable aliens,” Ostow shared with Bored Panda.

David Ostow originally worked as an architect before deciding to use his artistic skills to create funny content instead of buildings. His works have been published in numerous media outlets and publications, including the New Yorker and The New York Times.

Ostow also regularly shares his newest works on Instagram, where he has more than 50K followers. Continue scrolling to check out more of his comics below.

Most webcomics you see on the internet are funny, cute, cheerful, or combination of everything. Some might have a few touches of fantasy or surreal but they usually either make you laugh or feel better. But London-based illustrator and cartoonist Alex Jenkins is taking a different approach.

Jenkins’ comics are filled with surreal and horror-like illustrations that are borderline disturbing. They are full of unexpected and scary moments, some of which might cause those of faint heart to look away. But those who stick with them to the end might end up being rewarded with a chuckle or a surprising twist while getting to enjoy a beautiful style of illustration.

“I would describe my work as exploring satirical and critical subject matter through a distinctive and vivid style. I try to avoid the pretence but wallow in humor, whilst touching on the absurd and surreal,” Jenkins explains on his website.

Jenkins doesn’t keep the unique and disturbing style for his comics. He also creates all sorts of other artworks with similar elements. This includes creating illustrations for high-profile media publications like The New York Times, NME and Vice, while also working on Adult Swim shows.

The best kinds of webcomics are single-panel, simple, and feature a direct and funny punchline that everyone can easily get. This is exactly how Chris Agee approaches his Eyewash Comics.

Eyewash Comics are not expertly illustrated and don’t try to be too smart for their own good. They are simply funny and will get you a good laugh when you stumble upon them on your social media. They deal with all sorts of different themes, ranging from everyday life situations to entertaining puns from the animal world.

According to Agee, he started creating Eyewash Comics during the pandemic when he came up with the idea to launch a single-panel comic series. He intended to use it as a creative outlet for jokes, gags, and puns that would pop into his head from time to time.

“These constant puns and gags can make it hard for me to engage in a conversation longer than 15 seconds, but if I say some of them out loud, they occasionally make other people laugh,” the artist explains on his website.

After the first drafts of his Eyewash Comics were met with positive reactions, Agee decided to focus more on them, and it is proving to be a great decision. The comics have a loyal fanbase on social media, and the number of his followers is constantly increasing.

What do ghosts do when they are not going around spooking people? Actually, quite a lot, at least according to the funny comic series Almost 100 Ghosts.

The comic follows a group of “almost 100” ghosts who live together in a big mansion and are engaging in all sorts of afterlife adventures. They tease each other, try to prank Death, get caught up in dealing with existential crises, and even find time to scare the living.

According to the artist behind Almost 100 Ghosts, who goes by the name of Pavel, he enjoys making up all sorts of funny situations, jokes, and plot twists. However, he isn’t so fond of the drawing side of the comics that much, which is why he decided to give them a simplistic visual style.

“I made the visual style as simple as possible for myself. However, I really enjoy coming up with plots and jokes; time always flies unnoticed when I’m engaged in this activity,” he shared.

This actually turned out to be a great decision. It allows viewers to focus more on the story while the comics still look eye-catching despite not being overly polished. Check out more of them below.

Sharks are not considered the most friendly creatures you can encounter in the ocean. However, creative duo Christian Talbot and Sophie Hodge are looking to change that with their The Life of Sharks comics.

Talbot, who writes the comics, and Hodge, who illustrates them, want to show people that sharks are actually not as dangerous as they might seem. They are simply misunderstood and would benefit from a different approach, at least in the world of comics.

The Life of Sharks comics explore relationships that sharks have among each other and with other forms of life in the ocean. It follows them on various adventures, many of which will definitely make you chuckle.

According to Talbot, everything started when he wanted to write some talking-animals jokes on top of his stand-up routines. His friends liked it and proposed to him to make a webcomic.

“I can’t draw, so I was delighted when I found out that not only could Sophie draw them, but she also was able to add her unique style to the whole thing. They’re funnier because of the way she draws them,” Talbot explained in a recent interview with Bored Panda.

The Life of Sharks comics developed a loyal fanbase on Instagram, where the page has more than 80K followers.

Don’t you love when you are scrolling through your Instagram feed and find a comic that is so quirky and funny that you can’t help yourself to laugh even if you are having a bad day? Well, that is just the kind of content that artist Mohit Srivastava from India shares with his followers on social media.

Srivastava is the creator of the super popular weekly webcomic SpaceboyCantLOL. They deal with everyday situations and fantasy scenarios in a quirky and humorous way. This is achieved with hilarious twists that lead to unexpected endings you would never guess.

SpaceboyCantLOL comics will be especially appreciated by those who like their humor a bit on the darker side.

According to Srivastava, he became a comic book fan as a kid, and this prompted him to start creating his own comics.

“Growing up, I would just draw comics on every piece of empty paper that I could find in the house and even at the end of test papers in school. That way, I have attracted a lot of detention, but I have no regrets,” Srivastava shared in a chat with Bored Panda.

Srivastava’s sister encouraged him to start sharing his works on social media, and it turned out this was a great decision. It allowed the artist to have a creative outlet while the SpaceboyCantLOL Instagram page gained tens of thousands of followers who enjoy his works.

The internet is full of all sorts of webcomics and cartoons, but it’s been a while since we came across such a unique series like Swords Comics by artist Matthew J. Wills. They don’t feature humans, animals, or fictional creatures as their main characters like most other comics but instead revolve around swords.

The Sword Comics is set in a fantasy world where all sorts of strange and funny sword-related situations and mishaps can happen. For example, one comic sees two knights deciding to swap their swords. One knight gives his silver sword in return for a gold sword, but that turns out to be a big mistake as he encounters a werewolf shortly after.

Wills originally started posting the Swords Comics on Reddit in 2018, where they were a huge hit among other Redditors. Since then, the series has grown to more than 700 episodes, amassed 220K followers on Instagram, and will soon be turned into a video game.

“The series doesn’t take sides or try to offend anyone by making light fun of various fantasy clichés,” the artist explains.

Continue scrolling to get more familiar with the magical world of Swords Comics and get some laughs along the way.
