The Innovative Bubble Wrap Paintings of Darian Mederos

Darian Mederos is a Cuban artist living in the U.S., and it’s already clear that he’s influenced American culture in a positive way. With his inventive art, he’s changing the way artists think for the better.

His focus is on painting human portraits in his own distinctive style so that they look like we’re looking at them through bubble wrap. He calls this series Obscura Series and it can be described as a photorealistic abstraction.

The more you look at his paintings, the more impressed you will be with his skill. The bubble wrap changes the image behind it by reflecting light, and his portraits look so effortlessly done, but there’s so much skill and expertise going on behind each of them.

“From a young age, his passion for the human figures and the study of Masters like Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Diego Velazquez, brought him to explore the ubiquitous human features,” we read on his website.
