This Artist Creates Polymer Clay Jewelry Inspired by Studio Ghibli Movies

Studio Ghibli has given us many magical animated movies over the years, and one polymer clay artist found a perfect way to immortalize them. Lex of Folkish is taking Instagram by storm with her beautiful polymer clay jewelry inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s most beloved characters.

Folkish was founded by the North Carolina native Lex, who was creative from a young age, but it took her a while to find her true calling. While getting her bachelor’s degree in art history, she discovered polymer clay and instantly fell in love with making jewelry using this material.

Many of Lex’s recent creations are inspired by the Studio Ghibli movies that we all know and love. From the titular hero from My Neighbor Totoro to No-Face from Spirited Away and Calcifer from Howl’s Moving Castle, Ghibli characters often take center stage in Lex’s art.

When she’s not making jewelry that pays homage to Hayao Miyazaki’s films, she’s mostly inspired by folk art and she enjoys making jewelry for those wild at heart.

“Folkish is for the wild folk. For those who find peace in a misty forest where a slumbering beast could be hidden behind any corner. Or for those who just crave escape from reality sometimes. I hope my creations will be the perfect companion for all your wonderful and magical journeys,” she explains on her official website.
