This Unique Bar Top Has Crocodile Emerging From the Wood

Scott Dow is a woodworker from Corry, Pennsylvania, who crafts cool sculptures and other things from wood. He recently presented his newest piece, a bar top that has a crocodile emerging from the wood, and it might be his best work yet.

The bar top aims to recreate a scene of a crocodile as he is lifting his body above the water’s surface. Dow perfectly captured the moment, carving the crocodile to a life-like level while also managing to capture all the other small details. For example, the bar top has curves mimicking the water waves that get set in motion when the crocodile comes out.

Dow first shared the rough version of the piece, which looks impressive as it is.

However, the polish and polyurethane finish really takes it over the top.

Dow got the idea after seeing a table that had a small fish coming out of it. He wanted to see if he could do something similar but on a larger scale. After acquiring some local catalpa wood, he got to work.

This talented woodworker ended up needing more than 100 hours to complete the piece, but it was worth it because the reactions to this unique bartop were nothing but praise.
