Vanessa Hogge is Celebrating Her Love for Flowers Through Her Botanical Ceramics

Vanessa Hogge’s fascination with flowers knows no bounds, and they take the center stage in her intricate works of art. She specializes in making beautifully layered and delicate porcelain pieces that celebrate the endless beauty of Mother Earth.

Hogge is a ceramicist based in London, and she works from her studio in Cockpit Arts Holborn. Since embarking on this creative journey, she hosted numerous exhibitions and unveiled several collections of her work—most notably Efflorescence and Wallflowers.

Hogge’s art is inspired by her passion for all things botanical, and the list of her influences includes everything from Frida Kahlo’s paintings to Indian miniatures. She crafts her sculptures with painstaking attention to detail, sculpting every petal by hand to make sure they’re 100% unique, usually using porcelain and black clay to bring them to life.

From dahlias and chrysanthemums to daisies and hydrangeas, flowers have always taken the center stage in her work and that’s not going to change anytime soon.

“As an artist, the variety of their forms and structures is immense and endless. People comment and wonder when I will move on and if I will tire of flowers, but how can I? This fascination is also steeped in my family matriarchs – strong women gardeners and the great outdoors,” the artist told Colossal.
