When It Comes to Andreea Robescu’s Art, More Is More

Andreea Robescu’s artwork has a certain “oomph” to it. A mixture of collage work, illustration, typography, and graphic design, it adheres to the notion that more is more. In Robescu’s case “more” means: more colors, more patterns, and more texture. The finished pieces are often buried in detail—a celebration of fashion and abundance.

Over the years, this abundance has attracted acclaimed brands and publications, including Sephora and the Major League Baseball association as well. While most of Robescu’s work is done digitally, her toolbox also includes markers, acrylics, pencils, and ink, adding a textured feel to her work.

Like most creatives, Robescu traces her creative instinct to her childhood. Raised in Barcelona, she grew up in a family of artists, and took part in her first group exhibition at only 12 years old: “I started as a kid with drawing and painting, and even tried piano for a while,” she shared with Adobe’s online magazine. “Then I went to university to study interior architecture, and with a lot of support and guidance from my partner, Andrei Robu, I ended up doing what I do today.”

According to Robescu, her mixed media practice was shaped after coming to terms with the fact that architecture was not in the cards for her. That was when she decided to return to her more artistic roots. And at least judging by her work, it’s clear that some happiness can be found in having creative freedom.
