YouTuber MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, is one of the biggest internet stars. The North Carolina native earned his fame thanks to videos in which he does all sorts of crazy stunts, gives away money to people, and takes part in various charity campaigns. But his latest noble deed might be his biggest.
MrBeast recently uploaded a video on his YouTube channel titled “1,000 Blind People See For The First Time.” The clip, which gained 76 million views in just four days, sees the YouTuber paying for cataract surgeries for 1,000 people and then shows the emotional reactions of patients after having their sight restored.
“Unfortunately, nearly half the population with curable blindness doesn’t have access to this surgery, so I wanted to provide this to as many people as possible,” MrBeast explains in the video that included patients from the United States, Kenya, Jamaica, Honduras, and several other countries.
Besides paying for surgeries and raising awareness about the difference cataract surgery can have on people’s lives, MrBeast also showered the participants with various gifts. For example, the first thing one person saw when they took off the bandages was the message on the screen saying they had received $10,000.
