Mocha Mousse succeeds last year’s selection of “Peach Fuzz”, a soft peach tone that represented joy and evoked feelings of peacefulness, kindness, and community. Mexico City has transformed its iconic avenues into a vibrant display of holiday spirit by adorning the streets with 147,000 poinsettia plants as part of the 2024 Poinsettia Flower Festival. The festival is being held on Paseo de la Reforma, showcasing local production across 12 primary roadways over a stretch of 38.66 kilometers.

The Festival

Poinsettia Flower Festival takes place from December 2 to December 15, and operates daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It supports producers from the conservation areas of the boroughs of Xochimilco, Tláhuac, Milpa Alta, and Magdalena Contreras. The Ministry of Tourism of Mexico City has invited residents and visitors alike to experience this authentic and unique attraction within the city’s extensive tourist offerings, as noted by Milenio.

Around 140 exhibitors from these four boroughs are stationed on Paseo de la Reforma, specifically from the Estela de Luz to the Glorieta de la Diana Cazadora, offering traditional Christmas flowers and other seasonal products, according to Milenio. The festival not only promotes the beauty of the poinsettia flower during the Christmas season, but also supports local producers whose assets suffered severe damage due to atypical rains on October 6.

Florists have set up on both sidewalks of Paseo de la Reforma, where poinsettias have been planted from Periférico to Eje 2 Norte. The festival features an exhibition of florists accompanied by traditional agroecological products, promoting the natural and cultural wealth of the indigenous peoples of the southern part of Mexico City.

To assist residents and tourists in locating sales points for the festival, the government of Mexico City (CDMX) and CORENADR have presented an interactive map where individuals can find the nearest poinsettia sales point to their home, with sales points active until December 1. The map includes locations of docks, markets, and pavilions where the flowers can be purchased, including 30 sales points in Mexico City and a list of producers in Xochimilco who can offer any of the 20 existing types of poinsettia flowers. Symbol of Christmas

The Mexico City government emphasized the importance of the poinsettia, or “Nochebuena” in Spanish, stating: “The Nochebuena flower—also known as poinsettias, Christmas flower, catalinas, star of Christmas, and by its name in Nahuatl: cuetlaxóchitl—is the most important ornamental plant in Mexico, where it is native and found wild in several states of the Republic,” as quoted by Milenio. They added, “It is said that it was from Taxco, Guerrero, from where the first samples of this species were taken.”

Currently, more than 100 varieties of the Christmas plant are recognized, illustrating the rich biodiversity associated with the poinsettia, as reported by Milenio. The government of Mexico City (CDMX) said that nearly 1.8 million flowers will be part of the festival, representing an important opportunity to strengthen the economy of rural producers.

In addition to the Poinsettia Flower Festival, Mexico City is also hosting the Move on Bike Night Ride on December 28 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM along Paseo de la Reforma. Participants are encouraged to join the event by bike, skates, skateboard, or on foot, promoting sustainable and active transportation options during the festive season.

The route will cover 19 kilometers, stretching from Fuente de Petróleo to Plaza Tlaxcoaque, and will pass through main avenues such as Paseo de la Reforma and Juárez. Iconic sites along the route include the Diana the Huntress, the Independence Column Roundabout, and the Ahuehuete Roundabout, providing participants with a scenic tour of the city’s landmarks illuminated for the holidays.

Digital artist Jaime Sanchez is creating works that will make you look at famous brands a bit differently. In his digital art, these brands lend their recognizable logos and colors to all sorts of unexpected products.

Sanchez’s digital art is colorful, complex, and unusual, so you have to wonder how he gets inspired by all of those intriguing creations. As it turns out, the answer to that question is quite simple.

“I’m inspired by everyday objects and things easily accessible to us,” Sanchez told Bored Panda in a recent interview. “But without a doubt, my main inspiration is Andy Warhol. My works are based on simple and colorful compositions like those of Warhol, but I add a touch of surrealism and concept.”

Sanchez also doesn’t complicate his creative process too much. He explains that he simply takes an object and then gives it a new meaning. It just so happens that the result ends up being quite captivating, judging by the popularity of his works on social media.

“I make storytelling objects,” he explained in an interview with Surface Mag. “The objects can serve a function, but their main intention is to tell a story. Whether that story is about how the object was made, commentary on a current idea, or simply a physical embodiment of a joke, everything I make has a narrative.”

The user places MouthPad in their mouth and then pairs it up with their electronic device. The MouthPad’s sensors then pick up the movement of the tongue and translate it to action on the device. Imagine it like a laptop trackpad, but instead of your finger, you are using your tongue.

MouthPad can be used to successfully execute various tasks, including writing emails, using photo and video editing software, playing video games, and more.

“We’re not just reinventing the computer mouse — we’re reframing the human experience. From gamers performing multi-dimensional moves to artists crafting digital masterpieces, the potential is limitless. What will you create with the MouthPad^?” the company explains.

According to Augmental, MouthPad’s slim design makes it hardly noticeable when used and provides a minimum effect on speech. Doing your laundry isn’t really a fun activity, especially when you have to use a laundromat. You not only have to leave your house to get to one, but you also need to find ways to kill time until your clothes are washed and dried. Recognizing these challenges, one Japanese architecture studio decided to make laundromat use a much more appealing activity.

Suppose Design Office designed a one-of-a-kind laundromat in Shikokuchuo City, Japan, where customers have plenty of ways to spend time. Set in a renovated warehouse, The Laundry Holiday offers an in-house cafe, ice cream shop, and everything you need for playing a game of table tennis.

Besides reinventing the concept of laundromats, based on the owner’s wish to turn laundry duty into a fun task, the studio also put a lot of focus on the exterior of the place. The original façade of the warehouse was left intact beside the front, which was turned into a window display. The café and the ice cream shop were given a green tile treatment for a visually appealing contrast.

If the Laundry Holiday was any closer, we would probably do our laundry all the time there. But since it is not, we can only admire the idea.

Mexico City has transformed its iconic avenues into a vibrant display of holiday spirit by adorning the streets with 147,000 poinsettia plants as part of the 2024 Poinsettia Flower Festival. The Festival

Poinsettia Flower Festival takes place from December 2 to December 15, and operates daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It supports producers from the conservation areas of the boroughs of Xochimilco, Tláhuac, Milpa Alta, and Magdalena Contreras. The Ministry of Tourism of Mexico City has invited residents and visitors alike to experience this authentic and unique attraction within the city’s extensive tourist offerings, as noted by Milenio.

Around 140 exhibitors from these four boroughs are stationed on Paseo de la Reforma, specifically from the Estela de Luz to the Glorieta de la Diana Cazadora, offering traditional Christmas flowers and other seasonal products, according to Milenio. The festival not only promotes the beauty of the poinsettia flower during the Christmas season, but also supports local producers whose assets suffered severe damage due to atypical rains on October 6.

Florists have set up on both sidewalks of Paseo de la Reforma, where poinsettias have been planted from Periférico to Eje 2 Norte. The festival features an exhibition of florists accompanied by traditional agroecological products, promoting the natural and cultural wealth of the indigenous peoples of the southern part of Mexico City.

To assist residents and tourists in locating sales points for the festival, the government of Mexico City (CDMX) and CORENADR have presented an interactive map where individuals can find the nearest poinsettia sales point to their home, with sales points active until December 1. The map includes locations of docks, markets, and pavilions where the flowers can be purchased, including 30 sales points in Mexico City and a list of producers in Xochimilco who can offer any of the 20 existing types of poinsettia flowers. Symbol of Christmas

The Mexico City government emphasized the importance of the poinsettia, or “Nochebuena” in Spanish, stating: “The Nochebuena flower—also known as poinsettias, Christmas flower, catalinas, star of Christmas, and by its name in Nahuatl: cuetlaxóchitl—is the most important ornamental plant in Mexico, where it is native and found wild in several states of the Republic,” as quoted by Milenio. They added, “It is said that it was from Taxco, Guerrero, from where the first samples of this species were taken.”

Currently, more than 100 varieties of the Christmas plant are recognized, illustrating the rich biodiversity associated with the poinsettia, as reported by Milenio. The government of Mexico City (CDMX) said that nearly 1.8 million flowers will be part of the festival, representing an important opportunity to strengthen the economy of rural producers.

In addition to the Poinsettia Flower Festival, Mexico City is also hosting the Move on Bike Night Ride on December 28 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM along Paseo de la Reforma. Participants are encouraged to join the event by bike, skates, skateboard, or on foot, promoting sustainable and active transportation options during the festive season.

The route will cover 19 kilometers, stretching from Fuente de Petróleo to Plaza Tlaxcoaque, and will pass through main avenues such as Paseo de la Reforma and Juárez. Home Studyo, a design studio based in Belgium, recently unveiled an intriguing collection of household items that look like they are made out of inflatable material.

All of the items from the “Blow Up” collection are made of sturdy ceramic, making their fragile looks even more captivating while serving as a testament to the creativity of the Home Studyo designers and craftsmen. Their unusual design, paired with vibrant colors, ensures that they will bring a quirky note to every home while being practical.

The “Blow Up” collection consists of jugs, vases, planters, and mirror frames. Each item is available in a range of colors, allowing customers to pick out the one that best fits their interior décor.

According to Home Studyo, their goal is to “inspire you to curate your own space of happiness, a place where you can joyfully express your individuality and connect with the people you love.” In order to do so, they are focused on creating handmade and affordable objects that come with a unique twist. By doing this, they hope to fill the gap between “high-end exclusive collectible design and the impersonal mass production.”

Digital artist Jaime Sanchez is creating works that will make you look at famous brands a bit differently. In his digital art, these brands lend their recognizable logos and colors to all sorts of unexpected products.

Browsing through Sanchez’s works, you can see an Oreo cookie that has been turned into a pizza cutter, KitKat-branded toothpaste, KitKat toothbrush, LEGO toilet paper, Nintendo Walkman, and much more.

Sanchez’s digital art is colorful, complex, and unusual, so you have to wonder how he gets inspired by all of those intriguing creations. As it turns out, the answer to that question is quite simple.

“I’m inspired by everyday objects and things easily accessible to us,” Sanchez told Bored Panda in a recent interview. “But without a doubt, my main inspiration is Andy Warhol. My works are based on simple and colorful compositions like those of Warhol, but I add a touch of surrealism and concept.”

Sanchez also doesn’t complicate his creative process too much. He explains that he simply takes an object and then gives it a new meaning. It just so happens that the result ends up being quite captivating, judging by the popularity of his works on social media.

For designer Nikolas Bentel, everyday objects shouldn’t be constrained to their primary use. He reimagines them as new products that look quirky but have a practical use.

For example, Bentel has turned a simple red electric cable into a classy bag that you can use to free up your pockets. A credit card, on the other hand, becomes a knife that cuts butter but also presents a strong commentary on the capitalist culture.

As you dive into Bentel’s portfolio a bit deeper, his creations become more amusing and unexpected. One of the most intriguing ones has to be The Pizza Bag. Designed in the shape of a pizza slice, it is perfect for those who want to have their favorite food with them at all times in case of emergency pizza craving. And best of all, it is big enough to fit a large New York City pizza slice.

According to Bentel, his products and performances aim to “engage viewers to reimagine their everyday objects” while also serving as a storytelling item.

“I make storytelling objects,” he explained in an interview with Surface Mag. “The objects can serve a function, but their main intention is to tell a story. Whether that story is about how the object was made, commentary on a current idea, or simply a physical embodiment of a joke, everything I make has a narrative.”

Tech company Augmental has developed a product that promises to revolutionize how people control their electronic devices. The product is called MouthPad and acts as a tongue-operated trackpad.

The user places MouthPad in their mouth and then pairs it up with their electronic device. The MouthPad’s sensors then pick up the movement of the tongue and translate it to action on the device. Imagine it like a laptop trackpad, but instead of your finger, you are using your tongue.

MouthPad can be used to successfully execute various tasks, including writing emails, using photo and video editing software, playing video games, and more.

“We’re not just reinventing the computer mouse — we’re reframing the human experience. From gamers performing multi-dimensional moves to artists crafting digital masterpieces, the potential is limitless. What will you create with the MouthPad^?” the company explains.

According to Augmental, MouthPad’s slim design makes it hardly noticeable when used and provides a minimum effect on speech. This means that, in theory, you can easily switch between performing tasks and speaking with someone. Also, every piece is custom-built to provide the perfect fit for the users.

At the moment, MouthPad is in the Early Access phase, those interested can join the waitlist on Augmental’s website and be among the first ones to try it.

Doing your laundry isn’t really a fun activity, especially when you have to use a laundromat. You not only have to leave your house to get to one, but you also need to find ways to kill time until your clothes are washed and dried. Recognizing these challenges, one Japanese architecture studio decided to make laundromat use a much more appealing activity.

Suppose Design Office designed a one-of-a-kind laundromat in Shikokuchuo City, Japan, where customers have plenty of ways to spend time. Set in a renovated warehouse, The Laundry Holiday offers an in-house cafe, ice cream shop, and everything you need for playing a game of table tennis.

Besides reinventing the concept of laundromats, based on the owner’s wish to turn laundry duty into a fun task, the studio also put a lot of focus on the exterior of the place. The original façade of the warehouse was left intact beside the front, which was turned into a window display. The café and the ice cream shop were given a green tile treatment for a visually appealing contrast.

If the Laundry Holiday was any closer, we would probably do our laundry all the time there. But since it is not, we can only admire the idea.
