Christina Kunanets’ 3D Food Paintings Look Just As Delicious As the Real Thing

If you’re a huge fan of incredibly realistic food art, buckle up because you’re in for a wild ride! Christina Kunanets is an oil painter who’s using her skills to craft incredibly realistic food paintings that look just as delicious as the real thing.

Kunanets is an oil painter based in Lviv, Ukraine, and she attracted 130,000 followers to her Instagram page since starting to share her creations with the world in late 2020. Her page @u.wanna.art experienced a true boom with the rise of Instagram reels, which allowed her to fully capture the magic of her artistic process.

Kunanets’ videos usually depict vintage plates filled with our favorite comfort foods, ranging from bagels and toast to cakes and croissants. In her viral reels, she can be seen applying the final touches to her work, in the form of a thick layer of paint that makes her oil paintings incredibly realistic.

Kunanets is a firm believer that simple objects, such as food, carry memories and a moment of ‘deja vu’ within them, and that people can feel joy by seeing them in her paintings.

“Imagine a cup of coffee that will remind you of an important conversation or event in your life. Or even a specific cocktail picture will recall you some interesting acquaintance. Or croissant – about your first trip to Paris,” she explains on her Etsy page.
