Chile-born artist Cristóbal Schmal grew up away from the harsh politics that was happening in his country when he was young. His family moved to the Peruvian border so he spent his days looking at the Andes and the Pacific Ocean with little knowledge about the world around him.
That happened when he was older and decided to travel. He studied graphic design in Valparaíso, then moved to Barcelona for work, and traveling a bit more before finally settling down in Berlin. Today, he lives in the capital of Germany with his own family and illustrates the ancient stories from the Andes.
“I grew up in this oasis surrounded on one side by the Andes Mountains and on the other side, the Pacific Ocean,” Schmal told It’s Nice That. Check out his work below.
