Czech Artist is Creating Pocket Paintings to Make Portable Art More Popular

Most people believe that paintings belong on a wall in a museum, art gallery, or home. But Czech artist Jan Kalab disagrees. He believes in portable art, which is why he recently released a series of pocket paintings.

These pocket paintings stay true to their name, being just the right size so you can put them in the pocket of a jacket or a coat. If your pants have deep and wide pockets, you can store them there as well.

All of these paintings are done in Kalab’s signature style, which features vibrant colors coming together in a mesmerizing fashion.

“Smaller is better! Perfect for art on the move, slides easily into any pocket, and kids will adore it!” says the artist about the series.

Kalab made these paintings available on his webshop but the art collectors must agree they will not place the artworks on public sale for at least three years from the date of purchase.

There are a total of seven different designs, with each being limited to 50 units. The paintings are numbered and signed at the back, costing around $760 per piece. The artist also made them available as a set of seven, which comes in a special box.
