If you’re always in the mood to discover new visual artists who aren’t afraid to go to dark places, Joe Jurkiewicz’s art will be your cup of tea. This talented illustrator focuses on exploring complex narratives through his beautiful, yet twisted works of art.
Jurkiewicz is based in Kansas City and he created quite a splash on Instagram since he decided to post his art on this social media platform. His Instagram page is now followed by over 60,000 people and he shared hundreds of illustrations and paintings with the world over the years.
Jurkiewicz specializes in creating art involving complex narratives, often exploring mental illness through expressive forms and figures in his paintings and illustrations.
“His paintings explore themes of solemn, desire, loneliness, anxiety and exaltation… Bringing those elements together establishes the figures in a ‘calm-like’ state of mind even though the surrounding elements is chaotic and degrading,” he explains on his website.
Jurkiewicz graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration in 2016 and took part in many art shows in the years to come, mostly in his hometown of Kansas City. He found an even bigger success online, and he’s now selling his original artwork and prints on his official website.
