Stained glass art is a truly extraordinary art form and it deserves all the attention coming its way. Kristen Spero of Curiosity Garden is one of the artists putting it on the map, and she’s using her stained glass creations to celebrate her love for animals and nature as a whole.
Spero is a stained glass artist based in Florida, and she started her brand in 2020, as a way of escaping personal hardships she was facing at the time. She’s very lucky to have found her niche in stained glass art, but nature also happens to be one of her biggest passions.
Spero spent her childhood raising butterflies, admiring bugs, keeping a close eye on flower buds, and observing seasonal species to mark the passage of time. Her love for nature significantly informs her art, and she wanted to translate colors and textures of the natural world into stained glass.
“My entire life has been spent admiring flora and fauna in some way or another… These experiences have followed me into adulthood, and in many ways, I never lost my connection to nature. It keeps me grounded,” she explains on her official website.
Spero is especially fond of animals, ranging from bats to alligators, but birds seem to be her biggest love and they’re the most frequent subjects in her work.
