Lisa Agnetun is Taking Instagram By Storm with Her Ghost Ceramics

Our favorite painters, writers, and filmmakers have been presenting ghosts as scary creatures for centuries, but Lisa Agnetun decided to take a different approach. The mastermind behind the brand Ghost Ceramics is putting an adorable twist on these spooky creatures.

Agnetun is a ceramic artist based in Gothenburg, Sweden, and her ceramic pieces attracted over 100,000 followers to her Instagram page. She’s making her ghost sculptures by wheel-throwing stoneware or porcelain clay, before hand-sculpting them and painting over them.

Agnetun tried exploring many different motifs at the beginning of her journey as a ceramic artist, but ghosts were the only ones that she stuck to. They’re constantly evolving, and she doesn’t think she’ll ever get bored of them since she’s constantly coming up with new ways to keep them fresh.

“They’re dead souls, and I think it’s a challenge to make them come alive. It also gives me great pleasure and even hope to make this strong symbol of death into something playful and not scary at all,” she told Colossal.

Agnetun’s ceramic ghosts are colorful and unique, but she doesn’t shy away from making other pieces, ranging from jar lamps and jugs to tea ware and vases.
