Miniature Figures Are Skiing Their Way Through Werner Bronkhorst’s Canvas

Skiing and snowboarding are two of the most popular winter sports, and Werner Bronkhorst will make you see them in a whole new light. This creative artist is crafting textured canvases, with tiny figures hiding between the brushstrokes.

Bronkhorst used to work as a carpenter before finding his creative voice and deciding to give art a shot. He still works as a furniture craftsman and uses leftover building materials to transform them into amazing works of art.

The self-taught artist is guided by the motto, “The whole world is a canvas, we’re just walking in it.” His body of work perfectly captures this idea because it mostly features mini skiers, snowboarders, and hikers finding their way in the white world of Bronkhorst’s canvases.

“He pushes the boundaries of traditional painting by using heavily textured canvases as the foundation of his artworks. These paintings inevitably look like a landscape, which is perfect for adding mini-figures,” reads the artist’s official website.

Bronkhorst’s fascination with this unique style started with his viral White Stripes collection, but that was just the beginning. He continued exploring a similar theme with its follow-up collection The Strokes, and it’s safe to assume we’ll see more tiny skiers in his work since they attracted over 130,000 followers to his Instagram page.
