Natalie Sideserf is Taking the “Is It Cake?” Trend to a Whole New Level

Hyperrealistic cakes that make us question reality experienced quite a boom in the past few years. Natalie Sideserf is one of the food artists responsible for putting this viral craze on the map and her culinary creations are taking the “Is It Cake?” trend to a whole new level.

Sideserf’s rise to prominence started when her brother posted a photo of a cake bust inspired by Willie Nelson that she created on Reddit. The cake was viewed by millions of people and the reactions were so positive that she decided to start her own company, Sideserf Cake Studio.

Sideserf’s cakes only got wilder from there. She went viral again by creating severed head cakes of her and her groom-to-be and kept on creating cakes that walk a fine line between realistic and creepy. From fruits and veggies to animals and everyday objects, her cakes can take shape of pretty much anything, and you only know they’re not real after she cuts a slice.

Her Instagram page is now followed by 1.6 million people and she’s definitely one of the most popular food artists specializing in hyperrealistic cakes. She also appeared on several TV shows and hosted Food Network’s series Texas Cake House along with her husband Dave Sideserf.
