Natalya Lobanova’s Illustrations Are Hilariously Capturing Our Reality

If you still don’t know Natalya Lobanova’s name, it’s time to learn it because she’s the mastermind behind some of the most relatable comics that you’ll ever come across. The New Yorker magazine illustrator found viral fame thanks to her webcomics that hilariously capture our everyday reality.

The London-based artist started drawing her comics about everyday struggles back in 2010 and decided to share them online. This proved to be the right choice because it helped her get a job at a media company right after graduating, and she went on to work with everyone from BBC to Buzzfeed and New Yorker in the years to come.

Unlike most illustrators these days, Lobanova doesn’t solely find inspiration for her work in her own life, but in universal experiences that we all share.

“I tend to focus more on universal feelings that I believe everyone experiences, usually of existential angst… I tend to complete things super quickly and try and put a point across with the minimum amount of words necessary to capture the funny thoughts,” the artist told Bored Panda.

In addition to sharing her webcomic online and publishing her work in New Yorker, Lobanova is also the author of the book called Everyone Is Awful, which is supposed to help people laugh about their insecurities, doubts, and sore spots.
