Punk Rock Band Fall Out Boy is Putting Tear-Soaked Vinyl on the Map

If you had an emo phase during the 2000s, you probably grew up listening to Fall Out Boy, but do you know what they’re up to these days? Well, it turns out you can now listen to their music in a brand-new format—vinyl records soaked with real, human tears.

Fall Out Boy dropped their latest album So Much (For) Stardust back in March, and they came up with a creative way to promote it months later. This will be the first album available as the Crynyl record, which contains the artists’ actual tears for “maximum emotional fidelity.”

“Every Crynyl release is filled with actual tears from the artist. We gather tear samples using sterile collection kits, dilute them into a sonically-optimized solution, then seal them into each record using proprietary crynylseal technology,” reads Crynyl’s official website.

To make the whole thing even wilder, each record comes with a gatefold box with a built-in tissue dispenser—just in case you end up crying real tears while listening to your favorite artists.

This may sound like a crazy idea, but let’s just say Fall Out Boy already sold out the limited edition of 50 copies in an hour. If there’s anyone who should be selling tear-soaked vinyl records, it’s certainly one of the most beloved emo bands of the 2000s, but let’s see if other artists will follow suit.
