Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most popular capitals, but if you find yourself feeling a little bit confused once you’re there, you’re not alone. Somi Lynda became an internet sensation thanks to her hilarious videos that sum up the cultural shock of being a foreigner in the Netherlands.
Lynda is a Nigerian content creator currently living in Amsterdam, best known for her relatable and funny videos about the Dutch lifestyle. Most of her viral videos focus on her life in the Netherlands, capturing some of the quirkiest things she noticed about this country on her Instagram and TikTok page @DripList.
Lynda’s rise to prominence started when her nine-year-old niece convinced her to download TikTok during the pandemic. She’s now followed by 140,000 people on this social media platform, but she was very close to never joining it.
“I was like, what is this app, I don’t have space on my phone, haha. But when I started it, people just seemed so relaxed on the app, it wasn’t as intense as Instagram. You could just do whatever you wanted, so I thought, okay, I don’t mind hanging out here for a while,” she told Complex NL.
Lynda likes to keep her videos funny and engaging, but she also enjoys sharing fun experiences and hotspots to explore in Amsterdam, whether you’re a tourist or a local.
