The works of San Francisco-based artist Ted Chin could be best described as a surreal blend of ordinary and unexpected. However, the more you look at it, it’s quite plain that you’re in the presence of greatness. Indeed, there aren’t many artists out there who can do quite what he does.
In his series of photo-manipulations titled Ted’s Little Dream, Chin combines idyllic landscapes and calming scenes with fantasy and otherworldly elements. This results in eye-catching compositions that could easily be mistaken for a shot from a fantasy or sci-fi movie.
According to Chin, his works embrace “childlike wonder” and imagination, giving him an opportunity to tell a story with each piece. He combines stock photos with his own shots as part of his creative process, and it’s clearly working out really well for him!
“Storytelling has always been something that inspired me,” said Chin. “I’ve always dreamed about visiting different places, to see and experience new things, and to tell stories.”
