Texas Artist Creates Quirky and Unique Wooden Characters

Parn Aniwat is a Texas-based artist who enjoys working with wood and shaping it into quirky characters. His creations are unique, charming, and so toy-like that you immediately want to own them.

Understandably, each of Aniwat’s characters starts their life as just a piece of wood. Using woodworking tools like small chisels and knives, the artist slowly shapes it into food, human figures, animals, or weirdly-shaped fantasy creatures.

While most of Aniwat’s pieces start out as rough sketches, the artist prefers to lean on his creativity and momentary inspirations. Often times he’ll have one idea before starting to trim off the excess wood and then finish with a completely different outcome compared to what he wanted to do in the first place.

After the characters get their shapes carved in wood, Aniwat breathes some color into them. Using acrylic paint, he gives them their final look, including faces, clothes, and some whimsical features.

Aniwat primarily sells his unique works on Etsy, where he has his shop and regularly updates it with new releases. He also frequently shares the newest creations on social media and is occasionally available for commissions.
