Worry Lines is Using Her Minimalistic Illustrations to Tackle Mental Health in Uplifting Way

We’ve seen many illustrators on Instagram tackling mental health through their work, shedding light on this overlooked topic. Worry Lines is also using her illustrations to address mental health in an uplifting light, helping people deal with all the ups and downs that life brings their way.

Worry Lines is the brainchild of an anonymous artist, who specializes in drawing friendly characters with big feelings. She describes her illustrations as mildly uplifting, oddly comforting, and too relatable, and often uses them to capture the feeling of struggling with mental health in an anxiety-inducing world.

Worry Lines’ illustrations are surprisingly simple, and that’s not a coincidence. After years of desperately seeking perfection, she decided to create one illustration every day and see how it goes—and that’s how Worry Lines was born.

“This project started as an exercise in anti-perfectionism. I’ve always struggled with being a perfectionist, and I wanted to force myself to put something creative out into the world every day, no matter if it was ‘good’ or not,” she told Vogue Australia.

The mastermind behind Worry Lines believes that people find her illustrations so relatable because it’s soothing to see their struggles observed and reflected in a gentle way. In addition to helping others, her illustrations are good for her own mental health because drawing is an important part of her self-care routine and it helps her channel her negative feelings in a healthy way.
