One of the coolest things about AI art generators is that it can create just about anything you write into its input. As long as you can think of it, there’s a good chance the AI software will be able to create it. Many emerging artists have taken advantage of this fact by coming up with their own ideas, and this artist has been doing just that. Their big idea was simple: to generate images of celebrities if they looked like “regular people”. As you can see, the AI did a pretty darn good job of it.
Check out former President of the United State Barack Obama in a mangy white t-shirt hanging out in the slums. With the stern expression on his face, he really does seem out of his element. Or how about Angelina Jolie in the same exact environment. Well known for films such as Tomb Raider, Gone In Sixty Seconds, and Mr. And Mrs. Smith, we’ve never quite seen Jolie looking so the opposite of glamorous.
This picture of soccer legend Lio Messi sends the exact same message, although in this case there’s an extra layer added—because it’s well known that Messi was raised in a very low-income situation.
In each of the above photos, you can scroll to the right and find other celebs in the same scenario, from Will Smith to Elon Musk. The pictures actually make you think a little bit, and in a weird way, connect to celebs in a way we normally can’t. There always seems to be a thin veneer of status separating us and them, and this AI art allows us to shatter that illusion, albeit momentarily.
