Comic Artist Filipa Beleza’s Existential Crisis Drawings Are So Relatable

Barcelona-based comic book artist and illustrator Filipa Beleza studied Communication Design in Porto. She’s currently working on her existential crisis-themed illustrations—and we can all relate to them.

She describes her work as witty, colorful, happy, elegant, and relatable. We certainly would have to agree, especially with that last bit. Since she’s used to finding inspiration in daily life, the pandemic hit her hard. It wasn’t easy to come up with new ideas while being locked at home, but she then started to draw inspiration from the lockdown, as well as things that came to her in vivid dreams.

“After a few weeks [of isolation], I did start to have very vivid dreams and decided to turn to that for inspiration instead, so in a sense it opened the doors for me to explore more surreal and metaphorical images in my personal work,” the artist told Inky Goodness in an interview.

Filipa shares her work on Instagram, so you can follow her there if you want her fun illustrations to pop up on your feed every day. Scroll down to see some of the latest ones.
