Throwflame is an Ohio-based company that specializes in flamethrowers and all sorts of flame-throwing equipment. After the company made a flamethrower attachment for a drone a few years back, they have now returned with an even crazier idea.
In a recent announcement on YouTube and their website, Throwflame presented a robot dog equipped with a flamethrower. The basis of their creation is a Unitree Go1 quadruped robot that has a flamethrower attached to its back.
“Thermonator is the first-ever flamethrower-wielding robot dog,“ the company says on its website. “This quadruped is coupled with the ARC Flamethrower to deliver on-demand fire anywhere.“
This flame-throwing robot dog is expected to be available to the general public at some point in the third quarter of 2023. There is currently a waiting list for those who want to place an order, but the price is yet to be unveiled. It will probably not be cheap, considering that Unitree Go1 alone costs around $2,700.
Unitree Go1 quadruped robot is envisioned as a semi-autonomous robot dog that can be programmed for various activities, from following its owner during walks and runs to executing delivery tasks. This is why introducing a flamethrower to the mix doesn’t sound like too good of an idea if you ask us.
